Title KGM Ends First Half of 2024 With a Surplus
Date 2024-07-26

- Continued profits from the first to second quarters of 2024 have provided the foundation for KGM's management normalization; surplus trend maintained through the release of various new models and strengthening of export market penetration

- Achieved a 24.5% increase over 2023, which recorded the highest export volume in nine years, through new product launches and by strengthening marketing strategies in export markets

- Following the unveiling of its design in July, Actyon has been receiving positive reviews in the domestic market, recording over 35,000 pre-orders; KGM plans to further increase sales and enhance its financial structure through differentiated marketing strategies and improved market response

[July 26, 2024] KGM announced that it achieved net sales of 56,565 units, a revenue of around 1.99 trillion KRW, an operating profit of 25.7 billion KRW, and a net profit of 86.5 billion KRW in the first half of 2024.

Despite the decrease in domestic sales, the increase in export volume has allowed the company to continue its profits for two consecutive quarters. This was driven by new product launches and the recovery of CO2 penalties through the Torres EVX. Other factors that contributed to the profits were fluctuations in exchange rates and stock prices.

KGM's surplus in the 1st half of 2024 marks its second consecutive year in the black; the company's surplus last year was its first in seven years after the first half of 2016. After joining the KG family, KGM has successfully maintained a surplus while improving its products and launching new models, laying a strong foundation for management normalization.

In the first half of the year, sales totaled 56,565 units, with 23,978 units sold domestically and 32,587 units exported. Although this is a 13.2% decrease compared to last year (65,145 units), exports saw a 24.5% increase compared to last year's record, which was the highest in nine years. This was achieved by pioneering new markets, launching a variety of new models, and strengthening marketing strategies.

To increase export volume, KGM held test drive events for the Torres EVX in Turkiye and New Zealand last March. In June, the company strengthened its local marketing efforts and launched new vehicles in the Asia-Pacific and South American markets, including New Zealand and Paraguay, accelerating its export market penetration.

To expand domestic sales, KGM launched four new taxi models in May: The New Torres, Torres EVX, Korando EV, and the Torres EVX Van. In June, KGM opened the KGM Experience Center in Ilsan, offering various driving experiences to consumers and expanding customer touchpoints to actively respond to market needs.

The Actyon, unveiled on the 15th, achieved over 16,000 pre-orders in one day and surpassed 35,000 within a week, earning favorable reviews in the market and setting a new milestone for KGM.

A KGM representative stated, "We have successfully maintained a surplus for two consecutive quarters and established the foundation for management normalization as a new member of the KG family. Furthermore, the Actyon, whose pre-orders commenced last July, has been receiving positive feedback in the market. We will continue to enhance our financial structure and expand sales volumes through differentiated marketing strategies and efficient market response."
