▪ SsangYong to expand global sales through product mix, upgraded models, new markets

Seoul, S. Korea, September 1, 2020 : SsangYong Motor Company (CEO Yea Byung-tae;www.kg-mobility.com), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced that the company sold a total of 8,027 units in August 2020 –6,792 units in domestic sales and 1,235 in exports.

SsangYong’s August sales rose 7.2% from the previous month, showing an uptrend in sales at home and abroad. It resulted from resuming global economy and releasing some special edition models despite fewer working days due to the summer vacation.

The company’s domestic sales increased 1.3% month-on-month, helped by the effective marketing activities and online promotions on home shopping channels that meet current untact sales trend. Releasing special edition models also contributed to the sales increase.

Its sales uptrend at home was attributed to a recovery in main models. Especially, the Tivoli Limited edition had been sold out in July and the additional volumes were sold for limited time offer on CJ home-shopping channel.

SsangYong’s August exports also jumped 56.9% month-on-month following July when its exports grew over 80% month-on-month resulted from resuming economy in some countries. Its August exports exceeded 1,000 units for the first time since March.

The company is actively responding to the market conditions by re-organizing sales network in the Middle East Asia with new opening of showrooms in Kuwait and Iraq last month. Furthermore, it is working hard to enhance effective distribution service by moving UK dealer’s HQs.

As SsangYong Motor saw a steady recovery in the overseas market, the company will work on exploring new export markets, diversifying product mix for each market’s trend, and releasing new products in the second half of this year that includes the face-lifted G4 Rexton and reborn Tivoli Air. Through these efforts, the company will continue to expand its global sales.<END>
