SsangYong Motor Company, (CEO Johng-sik Choi; www.kg-mobility.com/en), has announced that the company presented lean-burn engine technology with the eco-friendly petrol engine at the ENVEX 2016.
While about 250 exhibitors from 22 countries participate in the 38th International Exhibition on Environmental Technology and Green Energy (ENVEX) with their technology developments, which is held at the COEX in Seoul until June 3rd, 2016, SsangYong introduced Chairman W equipped with lean-burn turbo GDI engine, which is high-efficient yet eco-friendly.
As a national project by the Ministry of Environment, lean-burn GDI engine has been developed by SsangYong aiming to enhance efficiency and minimize emission by utilizing advanced engine technology and after treatment system
SsangYong explained that the 2.0 litre lean-burn engine has maximized efficiency thanks to advanced technology and turbo charger – as a result, the engine provide similar or slightly improved performance while lower CO₂ emission level by 20% compared to current 3.2 litre engine applied to Chairman W.
Meanwhile, along with lean-burn engine technology, SsangYong has been developing EVR system to prepare for the next generation model. EVR (Electric Vehicle with Range-extender) is designed to minimize CO2 emission as well as to resolve issues of lack of recharging infrastructure. SsangYong plans to continue its effort to improve its EVR technology through its constant R&D investment.
