Nomad was launched in Kazakhstan on July 11, 2014.
Nomad is a frame type SUV with modified design from Actyon and upgraded the quality tailored to meet demands for Central Asian region including Kazakhstan. Nomad has been exported as CBU to Kazakhstan before it turns to CKD basis export basis which is locally assembled in Kostranay, Kazakhstan by Agromash Holding from now.
Nomad being as the first locally assembled model in Kazakhstan, it is especially meaningful in respect of Kazakhstan government’s effort to build up its own national automobile industry and the headway made in economic cooperation between and Kazakhstan and South Korea.
Especially, local 40 journalists showed interest in sporty design and excellent off-road performance of Nomad after test drive.
SsangYong has exported CBU (Completely Built Up) vehicles to Kazakhstan through business partnership with Allur Auto since 2003. Across four model range including the Korando, Actyon Sports, Kyron and the Actyon, the company sold a total of 3,600 units in Kazakhstan last year.
With its plan to increase assembly capacity of Nomad up to 10,000 units per year, assembly plant in Kazakhstan will be operated as a production hub to supply vehicle not only to Kazakhstan, but also to neighboring CIS countries as well.
“With Nomad CKD project, we could increase sales in Kazakhstan and secure our production base in CIS.” said Choi Johng-sik, Executive Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing G.HQ of SsangYong Motor Company. He added “We will make efforts to expand global sales by continuing to develop various products based on different market demands and consumer needs.”
