Ssangyong Motor (CEO Lee Yoo-il;www.kg-mobility.com), part of the USD 16.2 billion Mahindra Group, announced on July 1st, 2013 that the company sold a total of 12,858 vehicles in June 2013 – 5,608 vehicles in domestic sales and 7,250 in exports, including CKD kits. Its sales uptrend continued for the fourth straight month since February this year.

This strong performance was driven by the launch of the Korando Turismo, with the company’s monthly sales exceeding 12,000 units for three months in a row, increasing by 28.1% year-on-year. Its cumulative sales from January 2013 also rose by 22.6% compared to the same period last year.

Such sales growth is backed by an upswing in domestic sales. The Korando brand family including the Korando Turismo has led this sales momentum.

Its monthly domestic sales continued to exceed 5,000 units since April, registering 5,608 units in June. It showed an increase of 39.1% compared to the same month last year. Its cumulative sales also saw an increase of 34.1% compared to the same period in 2012.

Ssangyong’s exports in June also grew by 20.7% year-on-year and its cumulative sales rose by 15.4% compared to the same period last year, thanks to increased shipments to Russia and Central & Southern American markets such as Chile.

In particular, the company exported a total of 18,858 units to Russia in the first half of 2013, accounting for 46.9% of overall exports, which means the Russian market is the largest export market for Ssangyong.
In the first half of this year, the Korando C and Korando Sports sold 26,613 units and 16,615 respectively, accounting for 62.2% of total sales. The Korando Turismo sold 7,071 units in the same period and showed an upward trend continuously since its launch in February.

Lee Yoo-il, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, commented, “Our monthly sales exceeded 12,000 units in June for three straight months, and total sales sharply increased by 22.6% in the first half of this year from the same period in 2012,” adding, “We will continue to keep this sales momentum in the second half by conducting various promotion activities and entering new overseas markets as well as strengthening our product line-up
