SsangYong Motor Company (CEO: Yoo-il Lee; www.kg-mobility.com) will have its official launch of the New Actyon Sports outside Korea, as well as exhibiting the 2012 Korando and unveiling XIV-2, its premium CUV concept car at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show.
From press day on 6th March until 18th March, SsangYong Motor Company will show six production models including the New Actyon Sports, 2012 Korando, Rexton and the XIV-2 concept at the Geneva Motor Show held at the PALEXPO in Geneva, Switzerland.
The New Actyon Sports is the third generation model to inherit SsangYong’s pick-up brand values, and follows the first generation Musso Sports and second generation Actyon Sports, with its low-end torque enhanced for optimum performance on a variety of road conditions, from slopes and steep curves to rough off road terrain.
The New Actyon Sports is equipped with the e-XDi Active engine which provides a maximum output of 155ps and a maximum torque of 360Nm. Maximum torque is maintained in normal driving conditions (1,500~2,800rpm), while low end torque is 190Nm and fuel efficiency of 7.4 L/100km (2WD, manual), making the car fun to drive and dynamically efficient.
SsangYong Motor Company anticipates that the New Actyon Sports will be used for a wide range of leisure and outdoor activities, in addition to its SUV role of carrying up to five passengers in comfort.
The 2012 Korando also makes its debut at Geneva, and has been developed with new low CO2 diesel and 2.0L gasoline power trains, along with many additional enhancements to appeal to European customers.
The new Korando 2.0 litre low CO2 engine reduces the CO2 emission level to 147g/km (2WD, manual) and 157g/km (AWD, manual) from 157g and 169g/km respectively, greatly improving its eco-friendly credentials, while a 2.0 litre gasoline engine also becomes available with manual transmission (2WD & AWD).
In addition, XIV-2 (eXciting user-Interface Vehicle 2), a premium CUV(crossover utility vehicle) concept car which SsangYong has been developing as a global strategic model will also make its world debut.
Taking ‘a special experience with fun’ as its styling concept, XIV-2 combines the urban, dynamic shape of coupé, while retaining the powerful elements of an SUV to appeal to active young drivers through its creative and futuristic design.
The car will be equipped with various highly fuel efficient, low CO2 technologies including Euro VI compliant 1.6 petrol and diesel engines, six speed manual / automatic transmission, ISG (Idle Stop and Go) etc. to meet customer demand for economic value as well as aesthetic appeal.
Further developing this concept, XIV-2 will be launched in various body styles including 5 door, 3 door, coupé and an extended body version.
Yoo-il Lee, CEO of SsangYong Motor Company said, “By officially launching the new Actyon Sports and 2012 model year Korando with its new engines, and unveiling the XIV-2 premium CUV concept car, SsangYong will drive sales even more aggressively in European markets this year.”
