Ssangyong Motor Company (President and CEO Lee Yoo-il,www.kg-mobility.com) announced on August 2 that it would expand the company’s sales network and dealership in the UK in an effort to take up higher share in European markets.
Bassadone Automotive Ltd., with which Ssangyong recently signed a distributorship agreement, is an automotive sales company that owns 11 subsidiaries in Europe and Africa. The company plans to expand its dealer network to have 130 dealer showrooms within the UK and, with Korando as a flagship model, Ssangyong expects to increase its annual sales volume in this market up to 5,000 units by 2013.
Since Korando’s successful launch last September, SYMC has rearranged its sales network in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, while pressing its efforts to expand its presence in the UK market by building a new partnership with a local distributor.
Ssangyong Motor Company, on the other hand, is showing an upbeat trend in export resuming export to Argentina in 4 years as it shipped Actyon and Kyron last May. Strategies for export expansion drove the company to achieve the highest export sales during the second quarter of this year, the highest since the fourth quarter of 2006.
“We expect the UK market to serve as a spearhead of export expansion in Europe,” said Choi Johng - sik, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Our efforts to make Ssangyong a stronger brand in the overseas market will be continued in the future along with our global sales expansion plans to make inroads into new markets in Latin America, Eastern Europe and Africa,” he added. <End.>
