SsangYong Motor (CEO and President Hyung-tak Choi;www.kg-mobility.com) announced on August 1 that it sold a total of 10,069 vehicles in July, including 4,409 domestically sold and 5,660 exported vehicles (including CKDs), posting an increase of 36.2 percent from the previous month.
This is a monthly rise of 131.8 percent in domestic sales and 3.1 percent in exports. The substantial increase in domestic sales results from the 2009 SUV models released on July 7 - Super Rexton, Real SUV Kyron, It style Actyon, and Actyon Sports gaining a highly favorable response from customers due to new car effects.
In terms of domestic sales by model, 467 units of the Rexton were sold, recording a monthly rise of 328.4 percent. The Actyon Sports posted a monthly increase of 402.8 percent, with sales reaching 1,262 units. The Kyron and Actyon also witnessed their sales considerably increase from the previous month, with 765 units and 471 units sold, respectively.
Sales of the Chairman W and Chairman H totaled 1,211 units, enjoying a year-on-year growth of 49.5 percent in the large passenger car segment.
The company also recorded a growth in exports of 3.1 percent from the previous month and 11.7 percent from the same month the previous year. By model, exports of the Kyron reached 2,408 units, posting a monthly increase of 18.4 percent and a year-on-year rise of 47.1 percent. The Kyron led the growth in the overall export volume. The Actyon Sports recorded a year-on-year rise of 67 percent.
SsangYong Motor successfully achieved rapid growth in domestic sales by engaging in unique marketing and aggressive sales activities for the 2009 SUV models. It plans to steadily increase its sales performance by engaging in such efforts, thereby continually remaining in the black this year as well.
