SsangYong Motor (CEO and President Choi Hyung-tak;www.kg-mobility.com) announced on July 1 that it sold a total of 7,392 vehicles in June, including domestic sales and exports (including CKD).

Sales of large passenger vehicles reached 1,335 units, posting a year-on-year rise of 85.4 percent, thanks to brisk sales of the Chairman W and Chairman H in June. Cumulative sales from January to the end of June reached 7,642 vehicles, recording a year-on-year increase of 44 percent, thereby proving that the Chairman W and Chairman H are still enjoying brisk sales in the large passenger vehicle market.

In terms of exports, a total of 5,490 units (including CKD) were sold, recording a 28.5 percent and 8 percent increase from the previous month and the same month the previous year, respectively, thanks to a rise in sales of the New Kyron, Actyon, and Actyon Sports. By model, a total of 2,034 units of the New Kyron were sold, posting a 350 percent and 45.6 percent rise from the previous month and the same month the previous year, respectively, thus playing a pivotal role in the increase of the overall export volume. The increase in the company’s export volume in June is also attributable to the Actyon, whose sales went up 27.8 percent from the previous month, and the Actyon Sports whose sales increased by 128.2 percent from June  period last year and 70.7 percent from the same period last year(cumulative performance from January to the end of June), respectively.

CEO and President Choi Hyung-tak said, "SsangYong Motor has been experiencing some difficulties due to external factors, such as the soaring diesel prices, but we will substantially increase sales based on aggressive export strategies for the Kyron, Actyon, and Actyon Sports, and thus overcome the current difficulties and achieve the target operating profit ratio that was initially set."
