Local carmakers are competitively upgrading the convenience and safety features of their large sedans
to meet the growing demand for luxury. In the four months to April, large cars or those with an engine
displacement of 2.5 liters or more, accounted for 16.2 percent of total passenger vehicles sold.
The share has constantly increased from 8.5 percent in 2001 to 10.5 percent in 2003 and 15.3 percent
last year. To grab a larger slice of the large car segment, automakers are releasing models with
diversified engine displacements and improved features.
