SsangYong Motor Company (CEO Johng-sik Choi; www.kg-mobility.com/en) announced that the company globally launched XLVi and unveiled a new concept model at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show on March 1st, 2016.

Joined by the CEO Johng-sik Choi, company officials, and local and international journalists, SsangYong held a press conference, introducing XLV, long-bodied Tivoli and the concept model SIV-2 for the first time.

During the Geneva International Motor Show, which is held until March 13th, SsangYong will display the XLV, the concept car, and main models including Korando, Rodius, Actyon Sports, and Rexton in the booth of 420㎡.

Johng-Sik Choi, the CEO of SsangYong Motor Company, commented “Sales of SsangYong in the European market has increased by over 80% after the launch of Tivoli last year, and Europe has become the major market of SsangYong. With the launch of XLV, which combines on-off road driving capability and outstanding practicality, SsangYong will increase the global sales of Tivoli platform models by 100,000 units on a yearly basis.”

Tivoli sold about 63,000 units in the domestic and overseas markets last year thanks to its attractive interior and exterior design as well as class-leading product competitiveness. Along with launch of XLV, SsangYong aims to increase sales by diversifying target markets.

Especially, with the main models including XLV, SsangYong set the annual sales target in the European market as 26,000 units, which is 18% increased from last year, and will continue diverse and aggressive marketing activities to achieve the target.

SsangYong also introduced the concept car SIV-2(Smart Interface Vehicle), which is the next generation strategic model. As the follow-up model of the SIV-1 which was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show 2013, this concept car presents more advanced design concept, themed with the Dynamic Motion among the ‘Nature-Born 3 Motion,’ the design philosophy of SsangYong.

The styling of SIV-2 was inspired from the images of canyon, which traces the history of nature. Unconstrained yet orderly images that weathering of rock makes are applied to the car design, and powerfully running character line flows dynamically through the rear fender. Slim and wide design of SsangYong’s unique shoulder wing grille is in harmony with the head lamp.

Interior design emphasizes the dynamism in the optimized space. Restrained and simple design makes both contrast and harmony with delicate and dynamic factors, and finally creates emotional satisfaction. Wood floor, particularly, delivers high-class touch and pleasant space sense, like the driver is in a yacht.

Also, when listening to music in the car, the vibrating speaker equipped in bucket seat delivers vibration to the passenger according to the intension of music and the speed of beat so that passengers can feel the music with every fiber of their body.

SIV-2 is powered by a 1.6 litre diesel engine and 1.5 litre petrol turbo charged engine combined with a 10kW electric motor-generator and a 500Wh lithium ion battery. 48V mild hybrid system of the SIV-2 reduces CO2 emissions and offers economical and effective driving.

SsangYong will continuously develop eco-friendly platform and powertrain of high fuel efficiency, and this reflects SsangYong’s vision toward the transition of automobile technology paradigm and future mobility.

SsangYong will have a conference to discuss marketing strategy to increase sales with local distributors during the Motor Show, and will expand the sales network in the European market by 800.
